Last updated: 5 October 2026

About these terms

These terms apply to your use of TypingGauge.com ("Typing Gauge"), operated by [Registered company name] (company number [Company number]), [Registered office address]. By using the site you agree to them. Our privacy notice explains how we use personal data. Employers using candidate assessments also agree to our Employer Terms.

Who can use Typing Gauge

Anyone can take tests. Accounts are only for people aged 16 or over. You must give accurate information and keep your password secure.

Fair use

You agree not to:

  • use bots, scripts, pasting or any other way to fake typing, or submit results that aren't your own unaided typing;
  • alter, forge or misrepresent a result or certificate;
  • try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service, or scrape it in bulk;
  • click ads you aren't interested in, ask others to click them, or interfere with advertising;
  • use the service unlawfully or to harass anyone.

We may suspend accounts, remove results or revoke certificates that break these rules.

Results, scores and certificates

Typing Gauge provides skills assessments and practice benchmarks. Results do not guarantee employment and should not be interpreted as universal professional or industry certification. Employer requirements vary by organisation and role.

Typing Gauge certificates are "Typing Gauge Skills Assessment" results. They are not government-accredited, professional or industry certifications. Integrity measures such as paste blocking reduce misuse but can't prevent it completely.

Advertising

Typing Gauge is free and funded by advertising from Google AdSense on content pages. Ads are provided by third parties, and we're not responsible for advertisers' products or websites. You control ad personalisation on Privacy choices.

Our content

The test passages, records, articles and design are ours or licensed to us. You may use them only to take tests and for personal, non-commercial reference.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Typing Gauge available and accurate but can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or withdraw features, and we may update these terms. We'll show the date of the latest version below and tell account holders about significant changes.

Our responsibility to you

If you use Typing Gauge as a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. We don't exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be excluded by law. The service is free, and we're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses such as loss of profit or opportunity, including any employment decision made by a third party.

Ending your use

You can stop using Typing Gauge and delete your account at any time from your dashboard.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any problem.
