Our commitment
We want everyone to be able to use Typing Gauge, including people who use a keyboard only, screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control or high-contrast settings. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA and to make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010.
What you can do
- Use the whole site, including every test, with a keyboard only. A "Skip to content" link is the first item on each page.
- Zoom to 400% without losing content. Pages reflow to a single column on small screens.
- Use a screen reader: the passage to type is available as text, and live feedback such as rejected input is announced.
- Choose 1, 3 or 5-minute tests. Practice mode lets you work at your own pace.
- Turn on reduced motion in your operating system to remove animations.
Known limitations
- Timed tests. A typing test measures speed over a fixed time, so the time limit is essential to the activity (a WCAG 2.2.1 exception). Practice tests can be repeated as often as you like. If you need an adjustment for an employer assessment, ask the employer: they can allow a retake or offer another way to be assessed.
- Speech-to-text and predictive keyboards aren't suitable for measuring typing and can trigger the protection against auto-inserted text.
- Third-party ads come from Google and may not always meet the same standard. They never appear on tests, results or account pages.
Feedback and contact
If you find a problem or need information in a different format, please contact us and choose "Accessibility". We aim to reply within 5 working days.
How we test
We test with automated tools and manual checks, including keyboard-only use, screen reader spot checks and zoom and reflow. This statement was prepared on 5 October 2026 and will be reviewed at least once a year.
